After what seemed like years in the preparation, Neon Flea Circus are proud to present "Fistful of IOUs", their debut album presented in full Technicolor. So proud are we of it in fact, that we want every to hear it - even if they don't have the cash to pay for it. So for that reason we've decided to release the whole thing for Free! on the wonderful world wide web.
This is a non-commercial release, and so is being released under a Creative Commons licence. That pretty much means you can share it, re-use it, remix it, do what you like with it, so long as you say where you got it! (and if you want make any money from it, you gotta ask us first).

Eye-o-Ewes (...or The real IOUs....)

Fistful of IOUs could never have been made without a lot of help from a lot of cool people...(here are just some of them.. and we owe many sheep eyes to them all..)

Josh Fairhad spent night and day for months and months mixing, tweaking, recording, suggesting, re-recording, moulding, shaping and colouring the album...so he's probably listened to it more times that any one person is ever likely to...in the whole world for ever and ever again

Darren Jennings who listened to the album nearly as much, and spent a some spectacular time mastering a collection of songs into something that flowed like some strangely dapper celtic-voodoo-troll in the night

Coz Nolan (the wise): he who took on the herculean task of organising, managing and pointing the chaos of the band in the correct direction...(thank goodness he did, for no-one else would dare!)

Rachel Nolan (chief advisor to all issues pertaining to vice, virtue, morality..with a sideline in good sense)...also one half of the world renouned "Flea-Males"

Noel Hennessy who recorded us up, down, in and out..and still managed to keep our feet on the ground somehow.

Lisa Curran who patiently put up with us practising, recording and freaking out in the house...all the bloody time!..along with being the second founder of the much lauded Flea-Males

Hazel, Heather and Heather who got covered in glue, paper and bits of white fluff all in honor of making things pretty!

Neon Flea Circus and Creative Commons

Sometimes music isn't all about what will sell. Sometimes it's more important that lots of people have a chance to listen to it without being told they're a pirate or a thief. In fact it's probably fair to say it'd be rare you'd find a musician that would claim otherwise.

Up until recently though a musician had to depend on some kind of distributer to get their music into shops (and therefore to their listeners). This meant the distributer got to decide what would sell and what wouldn't...then of course it might sell, but not quite enough to turn a tasty profit. (...and that wouldn't do, would it?!)

Nowadays though, it's pretty easy to give a massive number of people the opertunity to hear your music without them ever going near a shop, but this depends on people liking it and passing it on to their friends. Well NFC recon that if someone likes our music and then they show it to their friends, it'd be a shame to call them a thief. That's why we're releasing this for free on Creative Commons - a type of copyright that says its cool to listen to someones music so long as you don't make any profit from it.

It's not that we think music has become worthless - far from it - we all spent more than enough time working on it to know what its worth...we just want to be able to say "sharing is good - pass it on. and if you like it - well pass it on, ya pirate!"

About Neon Flea Circus

Neon Flea Circus is a wholly (dis)owned subsidiary of the Irish not-for-profit musical ensemble Neon Flea Circus*. The group consists of four core musicians (Fergal Coulter, Dan McLaughlin, Niall Honohan and Brian Hennessy) two recording engineers (Josh Fairhead and Darren Jennings), some fabulous session musicians and the internationally celebrated “Hyperspeed All-male Voice Choir”.

The music itself is just that – music. Most of it upbeat, some of it silly but always colorful.

2007 saw the release of their well received EP “Go for the Juggler”, which they peddled around to the four corners of their island, before embarking on the recording of the full length “Fistful of IOUs”, started in early 2009.
